Sri Lanka tea production for the month of November 2022 totalled 20.24 million Kgs, showing a marginal increase of 0.18 million Kgs vis-à-vis 20.06 million Kgs of November 2021. High and Low Grown elevations have shown a gain, whilst the Medium Growns have shown a decline over the corresponding month of 2021.
When compared to the 24.91 million Kgs of November 2020, November 2022 shows a decrease of 4.67 million Kgs.
January-November 2022 cumulative production totalled 231.86 million Kgs, recording a significant decrease of 47.10 million Kgs vis-à-vis 278.96 million Kgs of January-November 2021. This would be the lowest recorded for the period under review since 1995 where it recorded approximately 225.70 million Kgs. On a cumulative basis, all elevations have shown a decline over the corresponding period of 2021.
When compared to 250.19 million Kgs of Covid-19 impacted January-November 2020, cumulative production of January-November 2022 shows a decrease of 18.33 million Kgs. On a cumulative basis, once again all elevations show a decline over the corresponding period of 2020.
